You know you're raising your kid right...

... when you walk past his classroom and spot his snowman story and the snowman is sporting a cap from your Alma Mater. GO WOLFPACK!

Award Winners!

Today we had the annual Pinewood Derby with cub scouts. My boys had a fine showing with their wooden cars. The "blue flame" car above was my 6 yr old tiger cub's and it came in 3rd place for originality for tigers and FIRST place for SPEED. He was so proud. I was really surprised his won the speed award! My almost 11 yr old webelo made the key lime pie design. It looks so real. Sand for the crust. Turned out really cute. He won 2nd place for craftsmanship and FIRST place for originality. It really stood out among the others. The kids love this event and racing their cars against the others. And, since placing, both cars will compete in the district race for their first place categories. Way to go my cub scouts and Mr. Pink. Mr. Pink leads BOTH kids' dens this year! Talk about a commitment. Mondays are crazy around here when they both have meetings that he leads.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Ughhhhh.

It's 6:08 p.m. and I realized we missed mini#1's orthodontist appointment at 4:15! I thought about it this morning, after the gym, around lunch time and then FORGOT it! The kids came home, did homework and raced outside to enjoy our 60 degree weather. And we missed the coveted after school appointment time. Ughhhh.

What do you think??

Busy, busy now that we're back to school. Homework, basketball, indoor soccer, cub scouts and I ONLY have 2 kids.

I need readers' opinions. Mini#1 has been invited to one of his best friend's birthday sleepover. The friend is a twin. My son never plays with the twin. Should we buy a gift for both boys or just the twin? I'm inclined to say both, but REALLY? I don't even know what he likes. I'll probably get both a Target gift card. Just wondering what you think. Comment anonymously if you've never commented.

And another "what do you think?" The Bachelor. Are these girls horrible or what? I don't see any that I like right now. I kind of like the girl from Chapel Hill, NC (Golden Gate Bridge Date), but the model one?? She is MEAN. The Charlotte girl, Blakeley, is definitely a tosser. The whole Shawntel reappearance was over hyped. Luckily Ben made the decision not to allow her to stay.
I really don't know why I still watch this show. I could be watching more quality programming such as Real Housewives of Beverly Hills (which I have to DVR!). Hahaha.

Random

A few thoughts.

1- Celine Dion's twin boys are so precious. Saw them on GMA. Sooo cute.

2- $1.3 million spent by Beyonce' and Jay-Z to have a baby "their way." Think of how that money could have better been spent in a neonatal intensive care hospital.

3- Last night I watched 10 mins (all I could stand) on a show about cheapskates. He separated 2-ply toilet paper, reused paper towels, dumpster dived for wilted roses and a discarded tea kettle for his wife on their 25th anniversary and asked someone for their leftovers at a restaurant. GROSS. 25 years married and she seemed "normal." Now that's love. No thank you!

4- This morning I realized (with the help of mini#2's wailing!) that I turned in his school library book at the public library yesterday. Gee whiz.

5- Cold-warm-cold-warm-cold-warm. What is up with the weather? It is crazy around the south.

Have a great Wednesday. I'm off to pilates!

Weekend

Yesterday started bright and early for mini#2's first indoor soccer game at 8:00. It was great. Loved seeing his team all over that ball. It's the first time they've had goalies, referees and no out of bounds! Definitely different from spring/fall soccer he's played thus far, but, luckily, it's with all of his regular teammates (buddies!) and coach. Poor mini#2 did pick up the ball when he was goalie when it was just outside the line. He'll learn. He thought being goalie was boring. I told him it's because all the action was at the other goal! His team won 9-1.

After basketball the boys went to a cub scout science activity from 11-3 so I met a friend for a yummy lunch and then to see "My Week With Marilyn." I really enjoyed it. Michelle Williams keeps proving she's a talented actress. She really pulled Marilyn off. You really felt Marilyn's insecurity despite being viewed as that time's #1 sex symbol....and heartbreaker as this story goes.

Today I'm off to Dick's Sporting Goods so mini#2 can spend some giftcards and then we're all going to see NC State play Maryland in basketball. Looks like it's a pizza/hot dog dinner since it starts at 6! Ugh!

It's been a great weekend here. 70's yesterday. 60's today. Not a snowflake in sight! Hope you've enjoyed your weekend!

What are you doing today?

HAPPY NEW YEAR lovelies! I hope it's a fabulous year for all of you. What are you doing today? We went to church this morning (perfect attendance so far this year. LOL!) and we're soon off to a nearby park for an organized hike with some cub scouts. I am such a girlie girl, as you may know, but I really enjoyed the one we all went on about a month ago so I'm off again today. And what better way to spend a sunny 66 degree day in NC in January! But, tomorrow it's going to be 49! Back to school, volunteering and the gym tomorrow, too....after a 4 week school break. It's going to be tough getting back into the routine! We had a great Christmas visiting with my parents and brother and sis-in-law in Charlotte. And NC State won their bowl game (and Carolina lost theirs!). So, I may or may not post more on Christmas, because, like my decorations, I feel like Christmas is packed away already!
