It bugs me...the name game

Baby Names.

I'm frustrated. It's bugs me that when I selected my child's name in 2005 it wasn't on the Top 100 Baby Names list for that year, nor in 2006, nor in 2007, nor in 2008. Yet in 2009 it was #100, 2010 it was #92, 2011 it was #82 and in 2012 it's #73! Yet here in NC I feel like it's becoming more popular! I knew no one in Atlanta (where we lived at his birth) with this name. AND, one of the Real Housewives of NY has a 4 year old with the same name so I cringe when she mentions him because then I'm thinking that she's putting this name into the heads of all the expectant mothers watching the show... I know. I'm a little crazy, but a name is something you ponder, try out, ultimately decide to call your unborn child for the rest of his/her life. And, I am one that did not want my child to be known as Jack A. or Emma A. (great names, just not for me) in school because there are 3 others in the same class with the same name so you are referred to throughout school with your last initial attached to the end of it. But, taking a deep breath, I need to relax because he was named this in 2005 when it wasn't on the "list." He'll just have friends with younger siblings named this! Ha!

Happy Friday!

Some Birthday gifts...

 something for my hand....

something for my neck...
something for my fingers...

Last week was my birthday. My boys got me rings that they picked out themselves. So sweet! My mom got me the necklace I wanted and my neighbor and friend remembered my desire for a LEFT-HANDED baseball glove. I think I was most excited about that! If you know me, you know I am a girlie girl (can a 42 yr old be called that?), but you also know that I love sports. I love to watch college sports, Wimbledon, Olympics, my kids play all of their sports and I like to play with them. And it is a lot easier to catch a baseball with a glove. I am happy and so is mini#2. Oh, and Mr. Pink bought me a new car 2 weeks ago so let's say he's covered for a few occasions! It was a fun few days of celebrating with friends and family.

(did I really post a pic of me without makeup??)

I love this show...

The Real Housewives of New York are all such a hot mess! I cannot wait until the St. Barts trip next week. And I just finished the autobiographical book that Carole (Radziwill) wrote, What Remains. She really went through a lot with her husband's 5 year battle with cancer, but first losing her friends (and husband's cousin) John F. Kennedy, Jr. and Carolyn Bessette Kennedy 3 weeks before her husband died. They were staying at the Kennedy's home at the time and John had already begun writing the eulogy for his cousin and instead he (Anthony Radziwill, nephew to Jackie O) had to eulogize John. I really enjoyed the book. Carole, in my opinion, is the only sane housewife on the show! But I like each of them in different ways...ok, maybe not Ramona. Do you watch?

You say it's....

your BIRTHDAY! It's my birthday, too!! And the lovelies around my house gave me a cake with exactly the number of years I am celebrating today. I thought we were going to set off the smoke alarms. I am not kidding! I've had a good day so far. Gym, shopping and dinner out tonight. I celebrated at lunch yesterday with my good friend who celebrated her birthday last Friday. And then, lastly, I'm going out to dinner again tomorrow night with two former roommates! Fun week! Hope your week is going well, too!

Happy Friday!

Is this not the cutest baby you've seen...today at least?? It's my adorable nephew. Since he lives in Sweden it is driving me absolutely crazy that I can't hold him! We were planning a trip to see him in September, but it's not working out so we have to wait until Christmas to see him. Ugh! Thank goodness for SKYPE!

I've od'd on the Olympics yet still I watch. I'm a track and field junkie. Having been a runner many years ago it pumps me up to see these amazing atheletes run like they do. On a side note I never posted about mini#1 winning a mile fun run 2 weeks ago when we went to a Lakefest in VA with friends. He totally shocked me by beating about 30 of us (yes, me included!). He was so happy. He got a trophy and a writeup in their local paper. I was/am so proud of him showing some early talent in running. Looks like I'll be dusting off my running shoes to start running with him. I did this with my dad in high school and it was quality time I'll never forget.

Other than that we're barely treading water some days with homework and activities. The life of a mother...

Enjoy your weekend!
