Today we had the annual Pinewood Derby with cub scouts. My boys had a fine showing with their wooden cars. The "blue flame" car above was my 6 yr old tiger cub's and it came in 3rd place for originality for tigers and FIRST place for SPEED. He was so proud. I was really surprised his won the speed award! My almost 11 yr old webelo made the key lime pie design. It looks so real. Sand for the crust. Turned out really cute. He won 2nd place for craftsmanship and FIRST place for originality. It really stood out among the others. The kids love this event and racing their cars against the others. And, since placing, both cars will compete in the district race for their first place categories. Way to go my cub scouts and Mr. Pink. Mr. Pink leads BOTH kids' dens this year! Talk about a commitment. Mondays are crazy around here when they both have meetings that he leads.
Yesterday started bright and early for mini#2's first indoor soccer game at 8:00. It was great. Loved seeing his team all over that ball. It's the first time they've had goalies, referees and no out of bounds! Definitely different from spring/fall soccer he's played thus far, but, luckily, it's with all of his regular teammates (buddies!) and coach. Poor mini#2 did pick up the ball when he was goalie when it was just outside the line. He'll learn. He thought being goalie was boring. I told him it's because all the action was at the other goal! His team won 9-1.
HAPPY NEW YEAR lovelies! I hope it's a fabulous year for all of you. What are you doing today? We went to church this morning (perfect attendance so far this year. LOL!) and we're soon off to a nearby park for an organized hike with some cub scouts. I am such a girlie girl, as you may know, but I really enjoyed the one we all went on about a month ago so I'm off again today. And what better way to spend a sunny 66 degree day in NC in January! But, tomorrow it's going to be 49! Back to school, volunteering and the gym tomorrow, too....after a 4 week school break. It's going to be tough getting back into the routine! We had a great Christmas visiting with my parents and brother and sis-in-law in Charlotte. And NC State won their bowl game (and Carolina lost theirs!). So, I may or may not post more on Christmas, because, like my decorations, I feel like Christmas is packed away already!
