Five on Friday

Ok here goes:
Would you rather.....
1- Go to Paris or go to New York City?
2- Had your children earlier or later?
3- Go to bed late or get up early?
4- Go on a 2 week multi-city European vacation or lounge in the Carribean for 2 weeks?
5- Shop for yourself or your children?

My answers:
1- Been to both places, but think I'm itching to return to France. Both are so full of life and not a moment of dullness is to be had.
2- Hmmm. Can I be wishy-washy on my own question? At the time, I wanted them earlier, but it took a while. Now I look back on the vacations we took pre-kids and think it happened when it was supposed to happen. I was 30 and 34. What about you?
3- Go to bed late, but I still wake up early! Ugh...
4- 2 week Euro for sure. Done the beachy thing. I'm actually researching and planning a trip this year to commemorate my 40th and our 15th anniversary- but, most likely, will be Cannes/Nice, France and Rome. Can't leave the babies with the grandparents forever!
5- TOUGHEST one of all because I can shop like it's nobody's business. I spread it around, but, since I'm the only girl around here, I think I'm entitled to look after myself when it comes to shopping. Is that bad?

Enjoy your weekend. It's just me and the minis this weekend (golf trip for Mr. Pink). We have a make-up snow day tomorrow (SATURDAY) plus baseball and soccer. Busy, busy.

See a pattern?

Does this bother you? Comment away...

In case you're unsure- this is French President Nicolas Sarkozy and Carla Bruni

Can you think of other couples like these? Not-so-hot considerably older husbands with lovely younger wives. Aaron and Candy Spelling was another that just came to mind. Trophy wives they're called...but what prize do the wives get? Oh yes. They get bountiful botox, weekly mani/pedis, designer clothes, fantasy vacations, luxury cars, elite private schools for minis and to wake up next to their fathers. Eww. I was ok until that last one. What do they say- marry the first time for love and the second (third, fourth, etc.)for money? This seems to apply here. I learned Carla Bruni once was with Mick Jagger. That's going from one extreme to the other... Ok, just an observation I thought I'd post about today.

It's all in a name.

I just received these cute shirts in the mail.

This one in navy (short-sleeved) threading with blue/white seersucker stripe fabric for mini#2.

And this one for mini#1, my golf player. Brown threading and lime green accents on the clubs.

So cute. I ordered them from The Pink Giraffe. Can't wait for the minis to wear them. My oldest was even excited about his shirt (thought he may not be) because he never sees his name on personalized items in stores. I've ordered from this company numerous times. Everything has always been great quality. Go take a look at their site.

Some pictures

We survived the sleepover. I took some really cute photos at the bowling alley, but don't feel comfortable posting other people's children on the blog. But here are a few. We got home at 10:00, they watched a 3-D movie and, after 2 "talking to's", they FINALLY ceased their own talking and called it a night at 1:30 this morning. Wow! They're going to be tired tonight.

My two babies at mini#1's bowling party.

Mini#2 and I waiting on our turn to bowl last night.

A mini#2 sandwich, last night. You know. Entertaining themselves while they waited to bowl again.

Thursday, when mini#2 mastered the two-wheeled bike.

Easter...my seersucker boys.

I hope you're enjoying your weekend. We've already been to a baseball game and a friend's birthday party today.

Breaking news...

...mini#2 just rode his mini (and I do mean mini!) bicycle without training wheels all by himself!! I was squealing with joy and then I ran inside for the video camera like any good mother would do. It seems he just needed to practice on his own for a little while. When Mr. Pink and I have tried to teach him, he would immediately put those feet down on the pavement when we let go. Ahhh. Two kids can now ride their bikes.

...I just helped myself to two slices of mini#1's Birthday cake to celebrate the bike accomplishment. Or because I'm PMSing big time. Now I feel sick.

...mini#2 is on a first name basis with the postwoman as of today. He already knew her name and today she finally asked his since he's been meeting her at the mailbox consistently for weeks now. It made him so happy!

...Ok, I swear, this just happened. Mini#2 is at my side wanting me to go watch him ride his bike some more and he pointed out that "you have a little bit of chocolate on your mouth." (um, told you I just ate cake). He then proceeded to lick his finger and wipe the chocolate off of my face. Now where did he learn that? I laughed so hard. I promise I usually use a wipe or wet paper towel when washing my kids' faces. But he must remember the other times.

Ok, back to watching the bike riding. Sorry this breaking news is simply NEWS to this stay-at-home mommy...and not earth shattering. Enjoy your beautiful spring day.

Great things come in small packages...

My "baby" is 9 years old today. He arrived (4 weeks early!) just after midnight 9 years ago, all 5 pounds 11 ounces of him. My life has never been the same. I love you mini#1. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! His first sleepover birthday party with 3 boys will be Friday night. I truly will be pink in a sea of blue that night!

Confessions of a (Slacker) Desperate Housewife...

20 minutes ago the telephone rings while I'm outside and minis are in various states of play with neighbor minis.

MRS. PINK?? This is Dr. Dentist office.

Me: Oh no! I forgot!!!! (said while almost wetting my pants in fear)

Dentist office: Ah, yea. (snottily)

Me: I am so sorry (realizing I missed the minis' cleaning appointments!). It totally skipped my mind today. Can I at least bring one in today?

Dentist office: Ummmm, nooo (trying to hide her contempt for the likes of a slacker mommy). There's not enough time. You'll need to reschedule.

Me: (with tail between my legs) Of course, whenever... I'm sooo sorry. I've never forgotten an appointment EVER!!! (this is true!)

Dentist office: (laughing fakely like she isn't buying it). April 29th at 3:30. Can you make that?

Me: Sure. Thanks.

Dentist office: No problem. (smirking as she rushes to apply 2 broken appointment fees to my account) Goodbye.

Me: (deflated) bye, now.

Then I immediately went to FB my friend/neighbor (the hygienist) to see if she'd help a sista out and make sure that receptionist with the Napoleon complex never found our records! I may be (somewhat) slack and sometimes desperate, but I recover quickly when necessary.

OMG

So my mom called me Sunday after church to tell me her latest horror story. You know the kind to scare you silly. It appears that one of her church friend's has a 41 year old daughter that just found out that she is pregnant. Ready for the scary part? She has a set of almost 16 year old twins- a boy and a girl and a husband who had a vasectomy years ago!!! 1- Not supposed to happen, 2- she was 2 years from sending twins to college and is STARTING OVER! Appears the vasectomy "reconnected," and 3- Mr. Pink had a vasectomy 2 years ago!!!

I hate hearing these things....I am perfectly content with my two children. I cannot imagine what she is feeling or this happening to me, but it could. Her mother said she cried for a day straight. Heck I'd cry for nine months! I'm a little teary-eyed for her now! I need to check into tubal ligation...

Have you heard any of these scary stories before?

Happy Birthday to my sweet dad (even though you do not read this blog)!

Don't you hate hearing these things...

I just read that Dixie Carter died yesterday. They're not releasing how she died, but that it's a "family tragedy." Hmm? I loved Julia Sugarbaker the most on Designing Women. Dixie was one sassy, southern lady on that show! Loved her smooth, southern accent as well. Don't you hate hearing news that one of Hollywood has passed away?

To end on a positive note, this kid, Justin Bieber, is just the cutest! Caught him on SNL last night. He really has a good voice for a 16-yr. old. Loved his skit with Tina Fey, although I was distracted somewhat by squealing teenage girl audience members. Brings back memories of me squealing at Rick Springfield.

It's been a nice quiet weekend with all of the boys away. They should be packing camp and heading home early this morning...with lots of fun laundry for me to do!

Five on Friday

Wow! It's been a while since I posted. Here's a quick survey.

1- Team Bethany or Team Jill on Real Housewives of NY?
2- Allergy problems or no allergies?
3- Above 80 degrees where you are or not?
4- John Mayer concert or Lady Gaga concert?
5- Are you finished having children or considering more?

My answers:
1- Bethany...yes, she's harsh sometimes, but Jill is taking their argument to extremes I believe.
2- Me- no, mini#2 suffers horribly. Poor stuffy guy!
3- All week it's been in the 80's! Thankfully, a cooldown to springlike 70's this weekend.
4- I think I want to go to both concerts when they come to our area. Ha!
5- ALL DONE. Two is enough for me.

Have a great weekend!
Pink
