It's the big day!

No, not Thanksgiving (yet!). But that's how we dressed for a costume party Saturday. We had a lot of laughs with the neighbors. Great costumes this year! We had Forrest Gump and Lt. Dan in his wheelchair. Loved it! I hope you and your little goblins have a Happy Halloween. I'm hoping the showers they're calling for hold off until after 8 when the minis are back home loaded with candy. At least we didn't get snow over the weekend like in the north. How crazy is that?! HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!

Last Friday Night

We celebrated our anniversary at the famed Fountainbleau Hotel in Miami Beach. It's been featured in a lot of movies. It's a 1500 room hotel with multiple buildings, pools, bars and restaurants in the heart of Millionaire's Row. Our hotel was very closeby, but less crowded! However, we were able to take advantage of all the Fountainbleau had to offer. We ate a delicious meal at Hakkasan. Our dessert was fabulous. The prawns were huge. Everything was perfect!

After dinner (about 10:15) we moved to the Bleau Bar (pictured above) in the hotel's main lobby. We met a lot of fun people, some of which were there as part of a convention. The crowd was gathering and awaiting the opening of LIV, the main nightclub that opened at 11. Later I learned this was voted the #2 nightclub in the world last summer! Stars and atheletes pay high dollar to buy tables and bottles at this club. We settled for a high cover charge, expensive drinks and standing room only! We met a couple from Texas also celebrating their anniversary so they became our new friends. It was such a fun experience. This club was hoppin and we were so surprised when Foster the People took the stage at about 1:30 a.m. My kids and I always sing along to their song "Pumped Up Kicks" so I had to quickly find my camera so I could record it to show them later. I was so close to the stage, too! After they played confetti fell like a snow storm from the ceiling. We left around 3:00 a.m. but that place stays open until 5 I believe! It was a memorable anniversary to say the least!

And we met up with our new "club" friends the next night at Joe's Stone Crab restaurant in South Beach. No, it's not the chain Joe's Crab Shack as my mom thought! We stepped out of our cab to see a Rolls Royce, Astin Martin and a few Porsches flanking the curb in front of the door! It's a favorite in South Beach. Stone crabs just came back "in season". Joe's cracks them for you and serves them with a mustard sauce (but I had drawn butter!). And we saved room for their key lime pie. Oh so yummy!! All of us late night party people got to bed much earlier this night.

Sunday we slept in, hit the hotel gym, got out on the beach and then shopped/dined in South Beach. We both hated it when Monday came and we had to go home and back to the craziness called parenthood! But we sure enjoyed a fun weekend being without kiddos. And because we are back that's why it's taken several days to get this posted!

Enjoy your weekend! We're off to a costume party tonight.

Our trip.

Avoiding the water above. Ha! Miami Beach was amazing! We needed this time together so badly. It had been entirely too long for us taking a trip on our own. The weather was in the upper 70's/low 80's and no rain. Perfect. The afternoon we checked in we took a walk on the beach and were pleasantly surprised. Today I'll just post a few photos of the things we saw. I'll get to the exciting evening at the famous Fountainbleau Hotel tomorrow! There had been several stormy days prior to us arriving so someone told us that's the reason for all of the sea's treasures we spotted in the sand. And the first photo is the view of the bay from our room. We had a corner room and were able to view the beach AND the bay. Loved waking to this view every morning!

After our walk, back we went to our room to get ready for our anniversary dinner at Fountainbleau. Stay tuned...

This day back in 1995...

I married Mr. Pink. We're off to Miami Beach for a long weekend without the minis. First trip we've taken alone in a long time! Hopefully I can relax and not worry about the not-so-minis under my parents' care in our home! They have to handle carpool, soccer game, entertaining, lunch packing, school drop-off, etc....but I have to remember they've already done all of this so they'll be fine.

Saw this on FB. Made me laugh!

Happy Friday to all!!!

It's a girl!

The First Lady of France, Carla Bruni, had a daughter yesterday in Paris. She has a 10 yr old son from a previous relationship and her President husband, Nicolas Sarkozy, has 3 grown sons. I am sure this will be one spoiled little girl! And, Carla is 43 by the way. She is beautiful! Cannot believe daddy missed the birth though. I suppose running a country sometimes gets in the way of one's personal life. He was in Germany, but flew home last night.

Real Housewives of Beverly Hills post

So did you see last nights' episode? It's drawing me in yet again.

Things I noticed and wonder if you have a comment or two:

1) Dana is such a label dropper: Valentino shorts..." I hope I don't fall in my Fendis." Like Camille said in another episode...those with money don't feel the need to express how much they paid for something. Dana- stop trying so hard to impress. Are you even an official housewife??

2) Brandi is killing me. No filter on that mouth and she doesn't back down when threatened! And, last week, why didn't she get up and scold her son for relieving himself at a party on Adrienne's lawn? I agree with Kyle on that, but I love Kyle (and I'll forget how mean girl you were acting last night).

3) What the heck is up with Kim? Is it alcohol? Is it pills? I must say, whatever it is, I'm enjoying her more this season. (I'm so bad.)

4) Lisa- loved that you got in the kitchen and prepared dinner for your guests. However, that is some princess chair you sit in at the head of your table while your husband sits quietly to the side. Poor guy wasn't even allowed to toast his daughter and future son-in-law when they announced their engagement. He just signs the checks I believe.

5) Who's left? Taylor. Eat a sandwich. Or two. She was tolerable last night though. So was Camille.

Love this show!

If you can stand a few more...

I had to post the photos from last Saturday's breakfast at the cutest corner coffee house. It is a coffee and wine bar in the evenings. I would so enjoy having a cute place like this to run. And for a small town, it was bustling the entire time we were there. I had the house quiche and Mr. Pink had a homemade breakfast crepe. A perfect way to start our day.

Outdoor fun.

Last week we spent a few days in the great outdoors in the NC mountains. We had a great time. We rented a cabin on a beautiful campground by a river. It had a fantastic play area for the kids that looked like a log cabin as well. There were goats to feed, river stones to walk on and a fire pit out front for our gourmet s'more cooking. The cabin had a kitchen, but we dined on pizza one night and Subway the next. I don't go on vacation to cook! We went tubing down a river one day and white water rafting the next. I hadn't done either of these activities in a long time. It was so much fun even if I was in the front of the raft! The last day we had breakfast in a quaint coffee shop and drove on the Blue Ridge Parkway where leaves are starting to change and temperatures are starting to drop! It was a great few days. Here are a few photos.

at the highest elevation (6000 ft above sea level). Mini#2 is wearing mini#1's flip flops because he wet all 3 pairs of shoes he brought with him (2 by falling in the river crossing rocks!) Why he didn't have his water shoes on I do not know. I was in the shower when this all took place under Mr. Pink's supervision.

View of Cold Mountain of book and Hollywood movie fame...

Yes, this is one pair of shoes that got soaked- but they had fun being boys!

Mini#2's new friend "Buddy."

Post white water rafting. I could not feel my feet at this point. Still numb from cold water. However, the air temperature was still warm so we didn't freeze for the 2 hour ride- just feet!

The view we had behind our cabin.

The boys in the loft. They loved the cabin. Definitely worth doing this instead of a hotel. Can't believe I said that, but true!

NC is a great place to live. Love our beaches and the mountains!

I'm still here.

Just back from a trip to the NC mountains and Mr. Pink's grandmother's 90th birthday party (on the opposite side of the state). Minis return to school tomorrow after 3 weeks off and we will finally be back to our normal routine. Whew. I am ready for routine again. Hope all is well in blogland. Will be posting more this week. Pinkie swear!
