NHL All-star game

Mr. Pink is taking mini#2 to the NHL All-Star game later today. He scored 2 tickets at work. Raleigh has been all abuzz about this event with activities for fans going on all weekend. This 18 yr old kid, Jeff Skinner, who happens to be a Carolina Hurricanes player, is being called the Justin Bieber of Raleigh. Anyway, mini#2 is excited. Mini#1 and are are going to go see the movie Tron after we drop mini#2 across town to meet up with Mr. Pink.

It's been a beautiful weekend here. Upper 50's and 60 today I believe. A glimpse of spring. Ahhh. Mr. Pink went to play golf in Pinehurst, NC with about 15 neighbor friends all weekend. What a perfect weekend to be outside. The minis and I drove around town yesterday and ate at one of our favorite places- a diner downtown. Pancakes for lunch for them and a turkey burger and sweet potato fries for me. Yum! Then we had movie night last night (Nanny McPhee Returns).

Today we went to church and I've been doing some spring cleaning. I cannot believe how much I had stuffed in my half of the drawers in our bedroom. After purging the unworn items taking up precious space, I feel so much better!! Today I'm tackling the closet!

Enjoy the rest of thw weekend!

My day

This morning I went to mini#2's kindergarten class to volunteer during centers time. They were their usual cute selves, making me laugh when one group (mini#2 included) started sniffing their glue sticks saying it smelled good. One claimed it smelled like buttered popcorn. He's mini#2's best buddy and played an electric guitar for the talent show on Monday. I may need to watch out for this kid and lock up the glue sticks if he comes over.

Afterwards I decided to make a 10:30 class at the gym, but wasn't sure what it was. Ended up it was a beginning step class. Ughhhh. I was one of 4 people there. I was just happy about that after the 25-30 people packed classes of late. It was an intro to fitness class where they do a different class offered at the gym each week in a slow, ease-into-it kind of way. Me, taking at least 3 classes a week, thought this was going to be too beneath me. I amuse myself. Wrong! I worked up a good sweat. The choreography part always freaks me out so, generally, I stay away from step though we use them in muscle classes. I kept up and made it the entire hour and will never underestimate any class again!

Tonight looking forward to The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills reunion. Should be good. And I like Kyle. She's feisty though I think a lot of viewers don't like her. Camille- yuck! She grates on my nerves. And, Lisa, since you no longer have a house guest, I would gladly accept an invitation to move in and mooch off of you and your husband. Mind if I bring 3 others along? The minis would love that pool!

And, from one extreme to the other, I watch Jersey Shore. They kill me....hear season 4 they're off to Italy to film. These kids never imagined drinking, fighting and tanning could be so lucrative did they?

Ok, some quick house cleaning and I'm off to the carpool line. Thanks for stopping by.

A blast from the past...

So I remember Kris Kross as those 2 cute kids in the early 90's that wore their clothes backwards while singing "Jump, jump." I wildly jumped, jumped many times on a tiny second floor dance club in a house that had been tranformed into a bar. All while beer was being slung all over the place. Ahhh, college. Don't you miss it?

Fast forward to 2011 to the second floor "dance club" in my house. All I hear is jumping, jumping and thumping as 5 year old mini#2 and his friend are slinging various body parts around while "dancing" to this song on Just Dance 2 on the Wii. And did I mention they're doing this while their pants are on backwards??? And that they're also pretty darn cute?

And while researching this post (serious business this blogging!), you may be interested to know that those kids were discovered in an Atlanta shopping mall at age 12 in '90 by 18 year old Jermaine Dupri. They're 32 now!! I showed mini#2 and his friend the actual youtube video and now they've also turned their shirts backwards! Ok, have to run. I'm taking them to the mall to be discovered!

Proud parent moment #637

5 yr old mini: Mom, we're gonna have a day at school to dress up like what we wanna be when we grow up.

Me: Cool! What do you want to dress up as?

5 yr old mini: A gangster! They get to carry a gun!

Where did my sweet, precious loving little angel go and where did this kid come from????

author's note: he happily agreed to be a baseball player instead. Good thing. I believe the prison terms are slightly less for steroid use than for murder....

Randomness

1- Did you hear that, currently, there is snow on the ground in 49 out of 50 states! Florida is the only exception. That's cool.

2- Felt like a real dumb@$$ this morning. Kids on 2-hour delay from school. Since I missed the 2 classes I take at the gym on Tuesday I thought I could at least make a 10:30 pilates class after I dropped off the minis. I walk into the gym, mat under arm and see people doing poses on mats through the glass windows of the studio. WTH? Looked at calendar posted on the door and it started at 9:30. Dangit! First time I've done that. Did elliptical for an hour. Boring!

3- Gotta love responsible boys. Fought the crazy carpool line this morning (and ice patches), but got the minis to school on time. It could not have been 3 minutes after I dropped them off that my cell rang. I'm still in the line leaving school. Mini#1, 4th grader, was calling to inform me that he left his bionator (mouthpiece) at home...on the coffee table. So he knows where it is and I know where it isn't. Frustrating. So back home, back to school and then to gym for the class I was late for!

4- This was a fun morning. Mr. Pink fell on the ice in the driveway this morning. I screamed because I saw it happen. Thankfully no brain injuries and that he didn't leave me alone to raise these 2 kids by myself. Seriously.

5-Mini#2 told me to go to nerf.com so he can get a free t-shirt. He saw this on TV. I checked it out and we're ordering him a t-shirt. Somehow, I actually found the receipt for the nerf gun I bought him for Christmas AND we had saved one of the boxes (not sure why) so we have the the UPC code required for the t-shirt. He's so happy. It's the little things.

Ok, enough...thanks for stopping by. Who is stopping by? Say hello.

Wishful thinking

Today I really, really wish I was here......

Looking forward to...

1- The Bachelor starts tonight... even though he's not my favorite.

2- February...when my gym classes aren't packed to capacity! Actually, I hope some of these resolution people stick around. They'll feel better and realize that getting in shape can be fun when doing it as a group.

3- April 22...Water For Elephants hits the big screen. Had no idea the movie was in the works and Robert Pattinson(!!!) is playing Jacob and Reese Witherspoon is Marlena. People you have 4 months to read this great book before the movie comes out. Start reading. Soooo gooood. I promise.

What are you looking forward to these days?

Happy New Year!

This is my New Year's resolution. Smile and let it go. My good friend posted this on facebook and I told her that this just may have to be my resolution. I think it would work even better if you had a glass of wine in your hand. Seriously though, smiling instead of quickly reacting or overacting to something sounds like a good thing to me.

Today we're celebrating the New Year by going to an NC State basketball game at noon. Go Pack!!

Here's a photo of mini#1 and me on our family ice skating outing the other day. It was the first time I'd done this in YEARS! One minute on the ice and wham- flat on my arse! Ouch! Then, like riding a bike, I got the hang of it again. Mini#2 cracked me up. He was off and running around the perimeter as he held onto the edge, but then he ventured off of the edge and quickly looked like a pro. Mini#1 got it pretty quickly, too especially after we tightened his skates. Mr. Pink was like an old pro and he pulled me around for a little while. Fun time. Until I fell one last time and caught myself with my hands. OUCH again...and for a few hours later. We'll do this again. After ice skating we went for ice cream. Wild and crazy we are...

HAPPY HAPPY NEW YEAR!!
